Dear Brianne,
Hey! I know we aren’t super lovey with each other but I just wanted to let you know you mean the world to me. I have never met someone so selfless and talented like you. You put others before yourself which many can’t do, you are the most hard working person I have ever met and I hate to say this but probably one of the funniest people I know even with your weird sense of humor.
My senior year with you was so special. Getting the opportunity to not only dance with one of your best friends but someone so talented was such a privilege. We pushed each other but in the best ways possible. You brought out a whole different side of me when it came to dance but I also feel I did the same with you. Our duet holds such a special place in my heart and will forever be my favorite routine I’ve ever gotten to perform.
You’re so hard on yourself and I don’t ever want you to think you are less than amazing. I think my biggest advice to you after going away and experiencing a whole different side of dance is don’t take anything personal. You are so special and it’s hard to recognize that within yourself but I know that one day you will. People get jealous and that’s just life but you should never feel bad for being happy for yourself because you earned it, it was never handed to you.
Proud is an understatement. It’s crazy that you’re gonna be a senior this fall and captain of tigerettes, just like I was. Thank you for being my best friend and one of the only people I can be my true self with. Remember how special you are. I love you forever.
Love, Sarah

This was a really well written letter, Sarah. I really enjoyed reading it and I could relate to it from basketball rather than dance. I was best friends with all the younger girls on my basketball team in high school, and watching them continue to grow not only in the sport, but as a person too is so incredible to watch. I love how you wrote this letter saying how proud you are, but also giving her advice.

This wonderfully written letter really reminded me of my club soccer teammates, and some of the girls on the team that I was really close with. Being on a team can really bring people together, and I loved how you talked about the dynamic you two had together. You seem to really know Brianne as a dancer and I appreciated how you gave her advice towards the end to help her; teammates always tend to know each other in ways that regular friends may not. Great letter!

Sarah, I loved the light-heartedness of this piece! I can totally relate to having someone that you have a special bond with in dance because my senior year of dance wouldn’t have been the same without my best friend and our duet, too! I like how casual the writing is because honestly I never get sentimental with my friends so I can relate to the style you wrote in. I really liked reading this piece because it brought back some great memories!
