How can three words be so hard?
It would catch the people close to me off guard
But it would finally let me be free
And bring me happiness to some degree
For now I am living a lie
Neither my mom nor dad know why
I know they are happier unaware
Because in my culture it is quite rare
Very few people know what these three word are
To me that is bizarre
How can I hide this
Especially from the people that bring me bliss
I am scared to lose people I care for
What if they don’t accept who I am, to the core
This is why I don’t say those three words
I am scared of how my world may be afterwards

To say the least I got the chills. The suspense but the emotion in your writing had so much power to draw me in and keep reading. Your honesty was inspiring and though no one may be aware of the struggles you assume in this poem your voice was heard and you are accepted by many. Of course not understanding your circumstances I hope it can bring you joy to know not only I, but many more people who know you and who will come to know you will accept you for everything you are and more. Your piece was true, encouraging, and moving. In my opinion, never let the fear of being yourself keep you from finding out who will love you more for it. great writing!

WOW. I absolutely adored your poem. Putting the rest of us to shame. I love how you made it rhyme because it keeps a nie rythmn to the piece but without too much of a silly rhyme vibe because this piece is a lot more serious. When you bring in all the fears it just became so truthful and honest and pure. wondeirng what the world is like afterwords makes it so dangerous and difficult. It really givves the reader a place inside your head whilst still not knowing what you are really talking about and i love that. The mystery in this piece i think is what makes it so awesome. As for the message just know that so many people have your back im sure more than you even know. Stay strong, stay brave, and keep up the awesome work 🙂

Reading this poem was intense, powerful, and breathtaking. From first read the style and rhythm make it a smooth and enjoyable poem to read, however the power of the message behind it made it my favorite to read. Your choice of words and style really had the ability to not only draw me in, but it caused me to feel the emotions of fear and uncertainty that are expressed throughout the writing. Never forget that every part of you contributes to the person that those in your life have come to love and cherish. Thank you for sharing this incredible piece.

Riya, I know you already have three comments on this post but after reading this I couldn’t help but comment. What you’ve written is raw, honest, heart-breaking and inspiring. Honestly, words can’t describe the emotions I went through when reading this. I love the use of the picture to understand the context of your poem. The aura of mystery arounds this captures the feeling of secrecy and demonstrates the struggle many people feel when sharing this with others. I love how this class is such a safe community for us to share our lives with. Thank you Riya for this piece. I hope you know that you are accepted for who you are! Live your best life girl!!
