I hear whining outside my door at 7 in the morning

I toss and turn not wanting to get up

Eventually I go to my door with no forewarning

I twist the door knob and bursts through the pup

I slump back into my bed

More exhausted than could be

She jumps up and starts kissing my head

Sometimes I wish she would just flee

After some time she curls into a ball

Slowly calming down and ready to sleep

She cuddles next to me all cute and small

We both fall asleep so quick as if counting sheep

Hours later we both open our eyes

Sprawl all out and let out a yawn

We finally arise

It no longer feels like dawn

Though my dog wakes me up everyday

She is still my best friend

She always knows how to make my day

I’ll be with her until the very end
