This semester I have learned many new ideas. Not only because of everything that happened due to the coronavirus but also because of my academics and social time with friends. Coming into the second semester, I was very nervous due to the course load I gave myself. I decided to challenge myself and go from taking 12 credits to 17 credits, that’s a big jump. I was nervous about the whole idea of adjusting to more homework and being able to balance my social life and exercising with it. To be completely honest, it was not that bad the adjustment! My professors truly helped me so much because all my assignments never fell right on top of each other. I have learned academically this semester that if you step back, and relax, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Socially, well there is not really a lot that I can say due to the fact we were only at UD for about a month. It’s so sad that we were there for so short but honestly, this was one of my best semesters! I broke out of my shell and expanded my horizons with making friends besides my 5 close friends. With being home due to the pandemic, I also learned how much I can’t tolerate my brother (hahaha tried to be a little funny during this piece). Truly though with being home I learned how important it is to exercise, take a walk, or a break during your school day. At the beginning of this quarantine, I would sit in my room for hours and hours just doing my school work without getting up and taking a break. I would get horrible headaches and back pains from sitting hunched over for so long. My mom then forced me to take a walking break after each class; meaning that even if it’s just a walk to the basement and back, I should do something to let my brain rest. Honestly, it truly helped. The picture I attached is of our beautiful campus right before you hit the area of the green. The trees are called cherry blossoms and they appear on our campus when the weather is beautiful and it’s nice outside. This picture shows me that I should never take anything on campus for granted because you never know. One day you can be missing your first UD spring and not enjoying the green on a nice day or outside picnics on the turf with your friends. This campus, from a nature perspective, is beautiful and that’s one of the many things that drew my attention to Delaware. I truly learned this semester not only new information about myself but helpful ideas that will help me have the best next few years with the University of Delaware. Every day I will continue to learn new lessons about myself handling school work or just about my life in general, no day is ever the same as the last; each day brings new information.
