Dear Mya,
We haven’t even known each other for even one year yet but it feels like we have. We met in person on move in day and began growing close and learning more about each other over the course of our first semester at school. We ask each other for advice and for homework help and were always together, whether it was in the lounge or at the dining hall or at the Hen Zone hanging out. As we got to know each other we learned that we have so much in common and that we are essentially cut from the same cloth. We laugh at the same dumb jokes and have similar styles and tastes (like when we decorated our door for each season/ holiday.) I’m glad you’ve been there for me and I’ve been able to be there for you.
Going into freshman year of college was already a lot to handle as it was a big adjustment, and going random on a roommate was just another thing to add to that but I’m glad we managed to get put together as I couldn’t imagine my college life or any other aspect of my life without you in it. Even in our current situation, we are still able to talk and connect with each other and we know the most about each other compared to our other friends, often getting deep about our pasts and current situations.
I know you were bummed about not getting an RA position but then you said you were glad that you got to live with me another year (which really hit because you weren’t gonna get rid of me that easily anyway but you still stayed positive about the result.) Now I’m looking forward to living together for another year and continuing to bond with each other and tell each other everything. Never did I expect to meet someone who would know so much about me in under a year, as I never really told people a lot about my emotions and junk, but I’m glad I can trust you and I can’t wait to stay close in our college years and even after them.
Love your forever roommate,
Madison Gac
Madison, this is a great letter! I only know you two a little as I did not really take advantage of the floor activities, but from the beginning, I could tell you guys were inseparable. From the outside looking in, I knew you guys were close and had a great relationship! I’m glad that you had a great roommate to help ease your mind during our freshman year. I also don’t like to talk about my emotions and it makes me happy to hear that you have someone that makes you feel comfortable enough to open up.

Madison,
i knew immeadiately i was going to love this letter and relate to it so much. My best friend at UD and now one of the closest people to me i met on the first or second day here and theres a cute picture of us with our candles almost identical to yours! Freshman year of college can be really overwhelming and difficult and we are sooo lucky to have found people we can bond with so well so early on. I know Sophie, my friends name, will always be there for me just as Mya will be there for you! Im so glad you were able to reflect on this friendship and show how much she means to you. Love the letter and hope you are doing well!

Madison, I really liked how you took this time to thank your friend because friendships like the one you have with Mya are so valuable and hard to come by, as you seem to already know. I like how you gave specific ways that you really appreciated her friendship with having the same humor, being able to bond with her so easily, and her always being there for you. And I’m glad you found such a good friend, because like you said, freshmen year is already a lot to handle, but having someone like that makes it so much better.
