Dear my friend, “sister”, go-to bestie,
I am always lucky to have you by my side. Through the good and more importantly the bad. You have always been my rock and my go-to best friend. I am forever thankful to have met you 10 years ago at camp. When we first stepped off the bus wearing the same shirt, I knew you were meant to be my best friend for as long as possible.
Thank you for always listening to my rants. Thank you for always helping me with shopping. Thank you for giving me the best advice. Thank you for being a shoulder for me to cry on. Thank you for being the sickest co-counselor. Thank you for being you.
Especially last year; you were the person I would ALWAYS vent to when I was stress with colleges or test-taking or anything relevant to high school. I never got a chance to say thank you for just listening. You helped me through MANY rough patches in life and I know whenever I am stressed at home I can always drive over just to see you. College life was different because I knew I did not have those benefits of living so close to you anymore. We still kept in touch; daily facetime and crying sessions together. You always got me but especially now. You understand why I cry over the school and why I am the way I am. To be honest, you are so similar to me with academics; the stressing out part. We both put too much pressure on ourselves with school but then we are always giving each other advice on how we can do better. We are so weird like that!
Thank you for dealing with my annoyance. Thank you for being as crazy as me. Thank you for never giving up on me.
Even though our college experience has pulled us away from each other, I am lucky to say that we get to be attached to the hip again every single summer! Being your co-counselor from the beginning is the best! Not only do we get to gossip together about our campers but we get nights and days off together. I am forever truly thankful for our CIT summer when our group leader announced we were co-counselors in training. Our friendship grew since then and we have always made the best memories together. Thank you for even dealing with me in camp. The picture that I pulled to attach with this is a quote.
The quote says, “True Friends are never apart maybe in distance but never in heart.” I find this quote to pertain to our friendship so much. No matter the distance with college, we are always on each other’s minds and thinking of each other. Thank you for always thinking of me. I am so excited to see what the future holds for us and I am lucky to call you my best friend.
From,
Your sickest co-counselor, ex 365, crazy BFF
Lexi
I really loved this letter! It was so thoughtful and meaningful and it is very relatable. Leaving my best friend for college was so hard, but the constant facetime calls were so helpful. Even now that I am home and so close to my best friend, I am still unable to see her because of the quarantine. I hope before we go back to college we can get the chance to hangout with our best friends, before distance takes it toll again.

This piece was so refreshing to read because it reminded me so much of my relationship with my best friend. I loved how you signed it with your nicknames because only your best friend understands where they come from but if someone asked you I am sure there is a great story behind each one. I also love the quote you shared because it truly shows the bond that you have with your best friend and that is something so amazing.
