During this time we are surrounded by negativity. It’s hard to see the positive effects from this whole situation but it has brought many, especially to our Earth. The air is cleaner. With many staying indoors air pollution has decreased immensely. It’s sad to say that it took a virus to help bring some peace back to the earth’s well being.
The outdoors used to be a place of imagination and freedom as a child but quickly overtime we see less children playing outside and more focused on technology. During this time I have been outside more than I usually would be which is sad to say. I appreciate the fresh air and the hot sun on my skin. Since I’m so fortunate to live in a beach town, I’m practically “downtown” or at one of the 4 beaches in my town sitting out and appreciating the view.
My town is the cutest town in the world. The view you get from driving down Main Street to the harbor is priceless. I grew up driving to town from many lunch dates as a child with my dad to many adventures with my best friends “downtown” is the best place. I admire the many dogs getting walked and the cutest old couples but what I love most about my town is the harbor. I could sit in my car for hours just listening to music and look out at the harbor. Over this quarantine I’ve been there everyday whether it’s for five minutes or an hour. I just like to take a drive down to the harbor to admire the pretty view. Whether it’s a nasty smelling day because of low tide or snowing during Christmas time this place will always be home to me.

Sarah, I enjoyed reading this. The earth is truly beginning to heal from people not commuting to work in cars as often and factories being shut down temporarily. I appreciated that you brought up kids’ addictions to technology that have kept them from the outdoors. Meanwhile, when we were kids, all we wanted to do was go outside. I’ve never seen so many people outside of their house with their kids. They’re regularly playing on their front lawn or taking walks with their dogs. I even have some people who try to walk their cats haha. Just through your picture, I want to live where you do! I loved how you genuinely described your hometown. I am jealous you have such a great view while being stuck home.

Sarah, I love the appreciation you have for your town. From the sound of it, it seems like a great place to be during quarantine. Your observations about the impact of technology on our pastimes are so true and it’s truly is such a bummer that how we spend our time has changed so drastically. However, I am glad that this is giving us a chance to reconnect with the outdoors and really appreciate it for what it is.

What’s up Sarah. I immediately clicked on this picture because I cannot lie when I say that picture is insane. One of my goals is to be able to live in a beach town like that at some point in my life. I also really liked how you were repping your hometown in this piece. I often take the little things in my small town for granted and this crazy time definitely has given me a new appreciation for them. I always feel like wherever I go, my town will always feel like home.
