It’s nice to finally meet you
in a new and different way.
I’m sorry for never asking your name,
or wonder what you were called.
I have come and visited often,
as you are not too far from me.
You’re the only one outside my house,
that’s included within the six feet.
The drive to you is scenic,
along the windy road and shore,
Every windows down,
with no cares in the world.
Once I reach you I begin to think,
about how life right now is much different.
But your view takes my mind of things,
as I sit there and admire the horizon.
Thanks for letting me visit often,
even though I never asked for your name.
You have been a good friend Lloyd Point,
and I hope to see you again.

Hey Colleen. Hope you are doing well. The picture you started off your post with captured my attention and is the main reason I clicked on your post. It looks incredibly beautiful. Your poem was amazing as well. The flow, rhyme scheme, and imagery you utilized really brought your poem to life. Your ability to rhyme is amazing, and the fact that it did not feel forced makes it even better. I’m very impressed because I can understand how you are feeling perfectly through your writing. I agree this is such a hard time for everyone, but I’m glad you found a way to keep yourself distracted, even if it is only for a short amount of time. I’m jealous you have Lloyd Point so close to you. It looks so amazing. Anyways, hope you are staying safe!

Hey Colleen!! I really enjoyed your piece it, had a very simple and light tone carried throughout it. I love how you made the location you visit often seem as if it was a person. The line “I’m sorry for never asking your name, or wonder what you were called.” really made it seem as though you were speaking to a human. I loved the overall tone of your piece. I loved how you took something you visit often and made it new again and gave it a new perspective. This truly showed how much you appreciate this spot. Hope all is well!! (Eleni LeClair)

Hi Colleen! I love love loved this piece! My favorite part has to bring the opening about seeing you in a different way. It really brings in the essence and message of the poem. I also think you did an awesome job with the flow and steadiness of the poem whilst still making a deep piece. I am also very jealous that you have this awesome view so close by. It certainly seems to take even just the smallest bit of sting away from all that is happening. Amazing work and I hope you are doing well in quarantine!
