What are you to do,
When time on your hands is all you have?
When it seems like everything you knew,
Has really just been cut in half.
In the world today,
Everyone is judged and compared.
It’s about how much you weigh,
And how much of yourself you have shared.
The world we live in can be cruel,
Where people are the judge and the jury.
Diet smoothies and attention can’t be your only fuel.
It’s not fair to have to count each calorie.
I see it every day,
A girl who’s got something more than me.
It’s a feeling that’s not hard to convey,
It’s nothing more than old fashioned jealousy.

I really like that you took the time to make the lines rhyme. It reads nicely and comes across as sweet and melodic while the actual subject is making a more serious point. I feel like since you chose to make it rhyme it helps get the point across more as its not too serious. I also really like your metaphor about how people are the judge and the jury, its a good way to describe how people can act.

this piece is so nicely written and flows very smoothly. it also is painfully accurate. too much time on our hands has caused me to be a lot less confident and with a lot of free time to look at people who are seemingly better than me, my mind can be my own worst nightmare. The jealousy at the end which i have always felt to be true just hits a little harder these days. I love how this poem leads up to that so sincerely and brief. I also really like the picture you chose. It fits very well.

I really enjoyed this poem since so many people can relate to it. I like how you took such a complex subject and made it so simple. Especially now with so many people promoting exercise and diet since were all just home people, I think especially girls, start comparing themselves to other. One of my best friends recently just deleted instagram just cause she was comparing herself to people she didn’t even know. Its crazy how jealous people can get when we don’t have the whole story.

I love how you put this piece together so well. From the beginning to the end, it really flows and engages the reader. The title of this piece really caught my attention, especially because time seems so trivial during this time. It seems like I’m in a simulation, where time doesn’t really apply to me since I’m stuck in my tiny house with nothing but homework to do. Your picture was my favorite, not only because it matches your writing perfectly, but also because you took it yourself. Fantastic writing!!
