When I thought of quarantine
I thought I’d rather be jumping on a trampoline
How I longed for the long warm days of summer
But instead I was stuck in one never-ending bummer
No control over the situation, it all depended on the virus
Scouring the news for information,
but seeing nothing upon examination.
What’s that though?
About as small as a bar of soap
Or as thin as a rope
Yes, it’s a beautiful thing called hope
Day by day, it grows bigger,
And becomes more of a reality
Hope, that life will return to normal
It will with time, but now is prime
Prime time to spend with family
Stay healthy, stay safe
It will get better.
Max, this poem is eloquent and the end rhyme scheme you’ve used flows so well. It is hard to pull off something like this but you’ve done it perfectly. The rhymes don’t feel forced and the diction you’ve used helps with the imagery of this piece. My favorite part of this poem is the last line. An optimistic outlook is difficult to have but necessary in times like this.

I really enjoyed how you were able to create this uplifting poem with great rhyme schemes, imagery and figurative language (something I struggled to incorporate into my poem leading me to just not include those). That along with the descriptive writing really enhances the poem and drew my focus into it completely. It was a great way to express that through this rather stressful and negative time, hope is something that will help get us through this.

I absolutely loved this piece. The hope that you have in this weird time is truly inspiring. After another long day of quarantine it was so refreshing to read your piece. Also your rhyme scheme was played out very well and made reading this poem even more enjoyable. Reading this was truly a breath of fresh air!

What’s up Max. Your rhyme scheme was awesome and I was really into the flow you had going and the message you conveyed is the key to getting through quarantine to me without a doubt. A little optimism goes a long way in my book, and with a positive mindset, you can not only make the most of your time in quarantine with your family, but also make this time go a lot faster. Stay safe out there.
