Best friend Brother Companion The list goes on Of the things you are Just two years old when I met you I had no idea what was in store Now that you’re sixteen I can’t even remember my life before You take away my tears And replace them with a smile You were there When no one else was You might just be a cat But Tigger, To me, you are way more
An Ode to You
Jamie, this was a very cute, sweet, and short poem. I loved how you compared your cat to being a brother and a companion. The idea of going to a store to get your new pet is interesting. I never really thought about that. I have four animals. Two cats and two dogs, and they each have changed my life. Each one has given me different things, but they are comparable to being a sibling or a best friend. My dog, Stella, probably knows more about me than some of my actual best friends. I enjoyed this because it made me smile when I related it to my life.

The simplicity in this poem made it a joy to read. I love the part that you talk about him ‘taking away your tears’ because I completely relate to that. Every-time I feel like no one else understands, my dog is always there and it is so comforting. After reading this I immediately went and hugged my dog. I absolutely loved reading this!

Jamie, I really loved the description you made of your cat being your brother and companion. My dog is also my best friend and having him has been really helping me during the trying time we’re all going through. Pets really do change your life for the better. The simplistic language you used made your poem an easy read and I really enjoyed it.
