The one word that came to mind when I saw the assignment was asking “How are you?” was bored, however that is an understatement. Everyday I wake up around 11 and do the same exact thing and the repetitiveness of my schedule is driving me crazy. To start my day I make myself breakfast, see what I need to do for school, go for a run, shower, clean, help prepare dinner and then I watch TV.
However one thing I look forward to is the weight loss challenge some friends and I decided to start. I am a very competitive person so of course I need to win. I have been trying some healthy recipes out and so far I am loving them. I found a new appreciation for gluten free and dairy free alternatives. I now call myself an almond milk fanatic, I have gone through nearly 5 cartons already. One of my new favorite snacks are cookies made from instant oats, peanut butter and a mashed banana.
My patience with my family is quickly wearing thin and there are days I would give anything to get away from them. However something I really enjoy doing with them are family game nights. Ever since we have been trapped in our house my mom bought home a ton of games for us to play all together. I have started shopping for my townhouse that I will be living in next year which makes me eager to move in, but then I realize that move in is five whole months away. Although I am extremely sad that my freshman year at Delaware was cut extremely short and I missed out on a bunch of things I was excited to do, I am grateful that my family and I are all in good health.
Hi Eleni! I loved your blog post and the picture with cookies! I do agree with you, us college students are always being asked since our freshman year was cut short, “how are you.” Yes, I do agree like you said we are all bored and going crazy with the amount of family time we are having but more importantly we should all be considering how the health care workers are. These people have been putting everything on hold just to work in hospitals for numerous hours with a lack of care to help them benefit more in this pandemic. I like how you and your friends are doing a competition with losing weight! That seems so much fun because I too get competitive so I might try that with my friends since summer is right around the corner, hopefully. Overall, I really liked your piece and hope you are staying safe! Alexis Lichten

I agree that the first word that came to mind was bored. I don’t think there has been a time where I have been so bored. It’s fun to hear about all the things people are doing to stay busy though. I like the idea of having a competition with your friends because it just keeps you in contact with the social world. I also like to hear that you are cooking a lot. I’m so bored I made oat milk one day… like wtf has come of my life. I agree that my patience is being worn down day by day with my family, but at the same time I find it extremely comforting that I am able to be in quarantine with my family. I’m glad to hear you are managing and that your family is in good health!
