I decided to stay off my phone for around half an hour due to having to clean my room and do some school work, nothing involving my computer or phone. During that time, I got to think more carefully about what I was doing in the moment, and additionally I was focusing a lot more than I would have if I had my phone or computer on me. I usually take about 1-2 hours to do my work and clean my dorm but without having any technology on me it took me 30 minutes to do the same amount of work that I usually do. After I finished everything I sat and thought. Thinking of how life is kind of weird without a phone but also felt like I can disconnect and relax for this little time frame.

Since it was a nice day, I decided to take a nice walk outside and around campus. I had no music to listen too and kept my phone in the dorm, a way to disconnect. This let me experience campus from a different viewpoint. Whenever I walk on the campus, to get to class, my head is always on my phone checking up on friends or any social media. This time, walking the campus, I was able to enjoy the surrounding areas and the beauty of the campus. I have realized that I am lucky enough to go to such a beautiful school where the weather can be nice to walk outside but also a little bit chilly since it is still wintertime.

Overall, I actually ended up staying off my phone for the whole afternoon. I felt a little disconnected at first but it felt nice and rewarding to take a break from technology and enjoy everything around me. I was in such a better mood not using technology because I had nothing to worry about. Now, whenever I get stress I like to take a break from technology as a way to relax.
